Dodge Ram 3500 Trucks
HISTORY: The first Cummins was put in a Dodge truck way back in 1989. Dodge's decision to use a Cummins engine in their heavy duty trucks was to change the world of pickup trucks forever. The Cummins 5.9L engine was originally designed for commercial truck use. This engine had 5 years of proven track record in the commercial market before it was ever used in the Dodge trucks. The Cummins proved itself to be an extremely reliable workhorse that advanced the age of powerful and relatively fuel efficient full size pickup trucks. The Cummins 5.9 was refined and updated over the years, and it saw service in the Dodge trucks all the way up until the 2006 model year. From 1989 to 2006 - an incredible service life! In order to meet stricter future emissions standards, Dodge worked with Cummins to release the 6.7L engine for use starting in the 2007 Dodge trucks. This new engine was designed to meet the stricter emissions regulations that were to be rolled out in 2010. Dodge had hit the mark 3 years early on these emission requirements. Unlike diesel trucks from other manufacturers, the current RAM trucks do not require a Diesel Exhaust Fluid system in order to meet emissions requirements. No need to monitor and keep filling up a DEF system in these trucks. That's one less thing to worry about on these Cummins powered rigs. There is no doubt about it. the Cummins engines in the Dodge trucks has been an outstanding combination proven over many years of faithful service.
