Gas Engine Fuel Saver - Products That Can Increase Fuel Economy

With the high price of gasoline these days, many people are looking for a way to increase the fuel economy of their engine.  There are many products on the market that make wild claims of increasing fuel economy and performance.  Many of these fuel saving devices are just marketing hype - the only financial gains to be had are probably by the people selling these gimmicks to unfortunate buyers.  There are some tried and true gas engine fuel saver ideas.  Listed below are few things that anyone can do to try to improve the fuel economy of their vehicle.

1) KEEP YOUR FUEL SYSTEM CLEAN - One way to insure that you are getting maximum fuel economy is to make sure that you keep your fuel system clean.  Fuel system deposits - especially on fuel injectors - can disrupt proper fuel atomization and decrease fuel efficiency as well as reduce performance.  Three products on the market have been shown to work to clean fuel systems: BG 44K, Chevron Techron, & Sea Foam.  For more details on where to buy these products, you can click here: automotive engine fuel cleaners.  People have successfully used all three of these products to help clean up fuel system deposits and maximize fuel economy.

2) MAKE SURE YOUR TIRE PRESSURE IS CORRECT - If one or more tires are running low on air pressure, not only can you increase your chance of a tire blowout, but you can also reduce fuel economy.  The extra drag created by the underinflated tire will require extra power (and fuel) to run.  Check the sidewalls of your tires to find out what the maximum recommended tire pressure is and then be sure to make all your tires are inflated properly.  Don't overinflate your tires either.

3) BE SURE TO KEEP UP ON MAINTENANCE - A dirty air filter, dirty fuel filter, and engine oil that is overdue for a change can all contribute to reduced fuel economy.  Spark plugs that are very old and worn or fouled can also reduce fuel economy.  The cost of new filters, spark plugs, engine oil, and other automotive maintenance items is small compared to the long term savings in fuel economy that can be gained from a properly maintained vehicle.  Not only that, but with proper maintenance you will also be helping to minimize costly engine repairs later.

4) KEEP SPEEDS IN CHECK -  As much fun as it can be to drive fast, if you want to save fuel, then try to keep your speeds down.  If you enjoy mashing the gas pedal to the floor a lot, then you will have to pay for it at the gas pump later.

These are just some simple gas engine fuel saver ideas that can really work.  Not only can you boost fuel economy, but you can also improve the performance of your car.  These gas engine fuel saver ideas may not be as exciting as some fancy fuel savings devices, but they are some tried and true ways to help ensure that you are getting the most miles per gallon possible out of your car.
