Below you will find a list of presidents in numerical order along with their portrait and the years of their service as president.  The United States of America has had a variety of different men lead the country as president throughout it's history.  Representing different political parties, different ideals, and with different personalities, these men have led the United States in a variety of different directions throughout the history of this country.  

Each man has had to deal with different circumstances affecting this country and the world.  Men like George Washington fought in the Revolutionary War to gain independence from England before the United States was even officially formed.  Abraham Lincoln led through the Civil War that almost tore this country apart.  Men like Franklin Delano Roosevelt served through the Great Depression and World War II.  Harry Truman was the man who made the decision to drop the first atomic bombs on Japan to try to put an end to WWII.  The heritage of the US Presidency is filled with a rich history of people and events that have shaped the United States.    What the future will hold for the United States and what future Presidents will come to power remains to be seen.
